Orthodontics II - 3 days

The course will review the physiologic processes involved in tooth movement. It will then cover the most common malocclusions found in dogs and cats as well as the techniques employed to correct them. During the course, the student will be exposed to the use of incline planes, acrylic extensions, universal screws, W wires, labial bars, buttons, brackets, and elastic chains. During the labs, one will learn to build those various appliances.

• Occlusal evaluation and fundamentals of orthodontics
• Impression
• Bite registration
• Model fabrication
• Direct bonding of bands
• Brackets and buttons
• Making acrylic appliances
• Interceptive orthodontics and non-orthodontic methods of handling abnormal occlusion

Practical:
• Impressions
• Bite registration
• Model fabrication
• Practice direct bonding techniques using buttons, brackets and elastic chains, wires and arches
• Making acrylic appliances
