This course further refines techniques in periodontal and palate surgery learned in Oral Surgery 2. You will explore advanced periodontal treatments, including grafting and guided tissue regeneration, as well as palate repair techniques.

Periodontal Surgery – Level 2
• Periodontal options for severely traumatized teeth
• Apically positioned flaps for crown lengthening
• Laterally positioned flaps for gingival cleft repair
• Gingival grafting (free gingival graft, connective tissue graft)
• Considerations for combined endo-perio/perio-endo lesions
• Guided tissue regeneration (bone graft and membrane)
• Use and abuse of dental implants in veterinary patients

Palate Surgery – Level 2
• Nutritional management of palate defect patients
• Surgical repair options for cleft lip (uni-/bilateral)
• Management of midline cleft hard and soft palate
• Techniques of tonsillectomy prior to soft palate surgery
• Closure of soft palate clefts (midline, unilateral, hypoplasia)
